Taylor-Hobson Manufacturers was founded in 1886 and was well knows for the manufacturing of high quality camera lenses. During WWI, Taylor-Hobson Manufacturers began to manufacture binocular lenses due to the wartime demand. After expanding its production again during the advent of WWII, the company was commissioned by the US government to establish a factory with the ability to produce 2,000 Prism No. 2 MK III 6X30 binoculars per month.
