Henricus Hondius was a member of the great map-making firm Jodocus Hondius & Sons, Amsterdam, which helped establish Amsterdam as the center of 17th century European cartography.

A fine map of Holland. Beautifully embellished with title, scale and dedication cartouches. Numerous types of sailing craft are shown as well as a compass rose. In the upper center is the Royal Arms. The inset map in the upper right shows the West Frisian Islands of Texel, Vlieland and Terschelling. Engraved by Solomon Rogers.
