Title: REGNI NEOPOLITANI VERISSIMA SECVNDVM ANTIQVORUM ET RECENTIORVM TRADITIONEM DESCRIPTIO PYRRHO LIGORIO AVCT. (A very true representation of the Kingdom of Naples in the tradition of the ancients and modern sources, by Pirro Ligorio). From Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, Antwerp, 1603.
This map, instead of the customary cartouche, has an impressively billowing banner, brightly painted. A lovely compass rose is positioned in the Ionian Sea, and a sailing ship off the eastern coast of the penninsula.
Pirro Ligorio was best-known as an architect, and was involved in the building of St. Peter's in Rome.
