William Faden, English cartographer to King George III, made this beautiful map, one of the earliest to show the boundaries of the United States, along with the Spanish, French, and English possessions.
Where Texas is located, there is a mention of Cenis (the Spanish and Indian settlement which eventually became the first mission of Tejas). This part of the country is also indicated as being Immense Savanna. Faden mentions the various diverse resources throughout North America giving this map some key advantages and information to whoever owned it.
Faden's Parent Plan, British Colonies in North America , 1777, was the first of this printed series which eventually became a total of 14 appellations.
