Featured Framing Project: Art Nouveau for a Collageon Aug 2, 2017 at 10:58 am
Art Nouveau arose during the late 1880s and really began to take shape during the 1900s in Europe. Artists took inspiration from the plant forms they saw in nature and would then flatten and abstract them into elegant, organic motifs. As the world was moving out of the Industrial Revolution, and machine made products, many artists were seeking to hold on to the hand-made quality of art, seeking beauty in the pieces around us.
This frame is a beautiful example of the Art Nouveau movement with a hand-made moulding of red clay base and 22 karat white gold detail, a perfect compliment to the collage work.
Framed to conservation standards with archival materials.
